02 / RALLY POINT / NODE

Hold the site.

Rally Point is what you leave behind, or send in, when a place may have to look after itself. It makes water from the air, keeps a store of power, gives people a way to call out, and holds a sealed bay for the medical kit. You can park one where people already live and work. You can also put it on a parachute and drop it the day the road is no longer a road.

USE

Leave it there, or send it in

It is the same crate either way. One of them stays for the season. The other arrives under a chute when there is no time to convoy anything in. A park can keep one for visitors who get caught out. Missionaries can keep one at a station that is a long way from a hospital. Relief crews and humanitarian teams can drop one ahead of the trucks. A ranch with no well and a weak signal can keep one by the barn. Remote is just the address. The locker does not much care how you got there.

STAY

Already on site

A park cache, a mission compound, a homestead. It sits there through ordinary weeks, and it is still there the week the power, the water, or the road fails.

DROP

When the trucks cannot

Some relief cannot wait on a convoy. The locker comes down first, with water, power, a call out, and the medical bay, and it can announce itself or stay quiet until someone is close enough to use it.
